  • FREAK !

  • The best method for identifying antique brass is NOT to look for ancient characterization or patterns in the craftsmanship.

Study the ornamentation and characteristics of different style periods like Georgian, Art Nouveau, Victorian, Edwardian, Ottoman, ect.

These styles will often help attribute an estimated date and will also help you identify provenance (where it was made)

I really should post my own vids disproving this lady w/REAL id methods if she's going to mislead ppl like this.

  • Sometimes these Indian made pieces Are singed with pinholes on the base and other times they come with a sticker that is easy to peel off. Similar ps r sold at Pier 1

Other items that look ancient and have ancient hallmarks are Chinese brass pieces. These hallmarks are only there to represent the style to which the empire it represents.

To look for honest antique brass items you need to look for honest patina, wear marks where they should be. Are there modern rivets holding lids on ewers?

  • This lady is a moron and is telling you NOT to buy anything brass because it's all reproduction. DEAD WRONG!!!

There are many great brass items that are adorned by collectors worldwide. Antique andirons for example are highly sought after in brass.

Other items are candlesticks, teapots, samovars, ect.

What she lacks knowledge in to reveal why a lot of brass items are of no value is that in the 70s there was a flux of brass tourist items coming out of india.

  • Poor, poor, poor communicator and lacks professional knowledge of items.

  • and you bought it............
