About Aung San Suu Kyi:

Aung San Suu Kyi is the daughter of the leader of the Burmese Independence movement in the 1940's, General Aung San, the most revered man in Burma's history.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been in and out of house arrest since 1989 in Rangoon, Burma. In 1990, she and her party (The National League for Democracy) won more than 80% of the vote in the National Elections. The Burmese Junta (which is an illegitimate government) nullified the results and never transferred power to Suu Kyi.

She has been awarded numerous international awards, like the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1990 and in 1991, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Daw Suu has been fighting for democracy In Burma since 1988, the year of the 8888 Uprising.
The junta put her under house arrest because they said that she was "a disturbance to the peace of the state."
But, the true reason is that, they know that she has the power to bring democracy, justice, and peace to the country with the power of the people.

To this day, Aung San Suu Kyi, now 63 years old, is still under house arrest, still fighting for freedom, justice, peace, and the rights of the people of Burma.

Aung San Suu Kyi and the Burmese people must be freed from oppression, hatred and violence....

  • Yes, very nice. Look lets just stop making these weepy tributes and make a united and concerted call to end economic sanctions against Burma.Sanctions have created poverty and misery for millions, providing wealth and power to the ruling junta. Stop santions - call the NLD to reverse their policy on sanctions.

  • @rickwood65 Please...I only made this video to try let the people know what is happening in Burma.

This is my way of calling for action - calling for justice for the People of Burma.

I know that we are in the same cause for Burma's freedom, but not many people even know what is the situation there and that a struggle for Burmese freedom even exists.

If we want a united call for action on Burma's plight, then the people joining and calling for it must know what they are fighting for first.

  • pilipinasmabuhay100,

  • @pilipinasmabuhay100 Agreed, until there is a movement of the heart all action is superficial. Videos like this have the effect of spreading the information as well as an emotional impact, which creates the resolve to make a difference. When those two things are coupled to action, only then does action become meaningful and lasting. Good Vid!

  • I have posted this to my facebook page. It IS important to spread the message. Videos like this can help to light the flame within a person, inspiring them to action. Good Job! Until there is a movement of the heart all action is superficial.

  • A real problem in Myanmar is the devastation of the economy which directly effects the very people we dream about liberating. Suu Kyi has bravely attempted to unseat the Generals and failed. Only empowered citizens of Myanmar can mount a challenge. People like you can help by calling an end to these disasterous sanctions. The junta wouldn't last 5 minutes if sanctions were lifted . lets get off Suu Kyi worship and and inflict some serious damage to the regime - lift sanctions -now.

  • fuck john yettaw ( copy past )

  • Malapait na maging ganyan dito sa Pinas - wake up people!

  • If Im the Burmese I'll poison the JUNTA...or put poison in their drinking water, foods or whatever...assassinate the whole family of the Junta from UP to bottom.

  • i belive in you Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. FREEDOM PLEASE !!
