@highonbetter A coach was stabbed a few years back from someone who ran on the field. Fans could easily have weapons, including guns. Very few sports stadiums actually put everyone through metal detectors. Dodger Stadium doesn't.

@whirleypop That's almost definitely not the case, based on a five second google search of "nba metal detectors" that showed that only nine months ago there were articles about how the NBA was making all fans go through metal detectors for certain playoff games after Osama bin Laden's death. Haven't checked, but I doubt since then it's become mandatory for all fans at all games.

@whirleypop And now I just found an article from November of 2011 saying that the NFL was about to start using metal detectors for all games instead of just the Super Bowl. So when I made my comment nine months ago, definitely the NBA and NFL didn't use metal detectors on every fan for every game.
