my complications post gastric bypass surgery....but i'm alive!

On March 3, 2010 I underwent Laprascopic Gastric Bypass surgery.
On March 4, 2010 I underwent Emergency Laprascopic Exploritory Surgery where they discovered I had a twisted bowel.

I have 6 port hole incisions, and 1 jp drain from the inial surgery, and they were able to use the same incisions for the emergency surgery but I came out with a g-tube drain to add to my collection of drains and tubes.

Wow Jen that truely sucks, but glad it is done......you will get better and better and be skinny in no time.....

Did they say why the bowel twists?

hey pat,

they aren't sure why my bowel twisted, but they said to me that it is a very rare complication. my surgeon actually said to me "complications can happen with surgery, but we weren't expecting that one!"

I had the same thing done after 9 months after my gastric bypass surgery i was in the hospital for 22 days i also had a hernia and had to have my appendix removed

OMGoodness you poor thing I'm so so sorry you had to go through all of this. I also had the surgery and a year out still have problems eating and the worst part is I'm gaining weight back. I hope your doing much better now and are healthy!
