On the eve of the coup Fiji's Indian population, over 40% of the inhabitants, was battening down the hatches. Coup rumors are frequent, and Chaudhry's government was not the first to have trouble. Chaudhry's People's coalition Government was about to hold the Suva Trade and Aid Convention, marking 12 months of success for the party. But the protests happening across the islands mirrored all too much the nationalist marches that preceded the May 1987 coup when Rabuka's government lost the election and seized power. But this time, the leader was a virtual unknown.

  • Ok this is overdue. right now February 17,2010 we should move forward with Frank Bainimarama. Thats the pass, & now lets move on. PM Bainimarama is what we should all be supporting right now because he is Fijis last choice in bringing peace to our island paradise.

  • @22871987

EXACTLY my friend. he is our last hope..

  • Indians can live in Fiji, but you can't own the land I don't dislike indians at all. But Fijians know to control the land are will end up like Hawaii and New Zealand.

  • All Ancient Cultures have entered into situations like this. Indians are progressing as Indians and Fijians as Fijians- when it needs to be a FIJINDIAN Way- but that takes time and effort- They'll work it out they're smart- NZ government has no room to talk, they can't even handle issues at home.
