  • OK..truce, we are both talking about 2 artists that know their stuff here. I am a HUGE keith fan (guess you can't tell) and I just didnt want anyone taking anything away from what he has worked so hard to achieve. Kudos to Eric also, really. I am sure he is outstanding as you say, but no, I haven't personally seen him perform. Will be seeing 2 shows from keith in Atlanta the end of this week though!!

  • the type of style eric does is NOT WIDELY known..which makes him even bigger...they don't have "video of the year", "song of the year", "best new artist" etc...etc...I guess what I'm trying to say is the world of instrumental music is a LOT different than country...i don't want you to feel as if I am trying to "degrade" keith or take him down, that is not my intention at all

  • so of course that gives keith (along with the other stars) a LOT of publicity in the music world, not to mention, the entire world

  • what i didn't get to say in my last post, since I ran out of space..was eric HAS been nominated and won 2 grammys! for instrumental songs...NO ONE wins grammys for an INSTRUMENTAL SONG!! i mean come on, that takes talent! and I know keith won all these awards, this and that, but country is pretty much the "big thing" right now in pop. culture

  • I still disagree on keith out of the water. If he did, Eric would be nominated for all of the awards keith has been nominated for and that has yet to happen. It is all in taste, I'll agree and keith fits my taste just fine. I also believe the majority of other people out there would agree with me also.

  • As far as Keith goes, damn I'm not downplaying him, I listen to keith a lot and respect his style of music, and his loyal appreciative nature, but when it comes to him blowing keith out of the water...guess what THAT IS TRUE!!!! at least in the musical realm, now as far as stage presence and getting the crowd "into it" I'll admit keith has the win there, but as far as the actual MUSIC itself goes, sorry Eric has keith surpassed there

  • Umm, Eric won how many grammies and nominated for how many more? Exactly.

  • steve miller was there after Keith Urban. I still stand at him being one of the most gifted talents around vocally and guitar ability as well as entertain his ass off .How many times has Eric Johnson won Entertainer of the year? Video of the year? Song of the year?? (the list goes on and on...the record speaks for itself)glad you enjoy Eric Johnson and I am sure he thanks you for buying his cd's too. Have a nice day and as for blowing keith out of the water...that is not what blows!!

  • all due respect to Keith, I think he is a great musician, I've listened to him since his "ranch" days. But as far as being the most gifted musicians around. Obviously you weren't at the Meadville show 2 days prior to this when Eric Johnson opened up for Steve Miller. You wan't to talk about a MUSICAL GENUIS look no further than Eric Johnson. This man is technically PERFECT!! and i'm sorry but when it comes to guitar, this man blows our fellow keith out of the water.

  • Was at this show and it was absolutely fantastic!!! He is one of, if not THE most gifted and beautiful musician around today. Anyone who has ever seen him live can attest to this statement...trust me.
