Here's the first steam up of a PM Research #4 steam engine. The boiler isn't quite done, buy works fine. It's fired with propane and will hold up to 50psi.

  • very nice indeed, what do you intend to run with it?

  • @skyrocketpuke I was given an old corn sheller that I'll run with it in the fall. I may also set up a generator to make some electricity.

  • @CHIPWAHL copper boilers can safley be ran at apto 100 psi or more if designed strognly enough with plenty stays & supports & thick enough copper, here in UK if a boiler is safe enough its initail test is to 1 & a half times working preasure, so if you've hydrod at 125 you should be safe enought to run at 60 psi

  • nice engine and boiler, i just got a copper boiler to repair and its about the same size as yours but it was an old fire extinguisher!

  • @CHIPWAHL , nice dont forget to make a vid of the corn sheller, lol

just watched your video again, man it makes a lovely sound i could listen to it all day don't know what my neighbor's would make of it!

  • @0812201 Thanx!

  • @0812201 Yes, I hydro tested it to 125psi. I wanted over a 100% safety factor. 50psi is the generally accepted pressure limit for copper boilers.

  • i need a small marine engine like that to build a miniture steam engine able to pull like 4 5 people. you know a compay that build nice afortable ones?
