Previously known as the Elf, the HTC Touch is the next generation in the Taiwanese company's line of Windows Mobile phones. The Touch takes Windows Mobile 6—which is already pretty usable—and integrates what everyone's fawning over the iPhone and the Prada for: finger touching.

The base OS is still the same Windows Mobile 6, but on top, HTC's added TouchFLO, their own touchscreen app. It can tell whether you're using your stylus or your finger, and if you're using your finger, you can activate a "three-dimensional interface" with "three screens" made up of your contacts, your media, and your apps. It's hard to tell what this involves exactly until we get a hands on, but it sounds like a fancy 3D menu system on the top level that you can spin around by swiping your finger horizontally.

new HTC-styled home screen that replaces the Today screen which lets you access your email, text messages, calendar, contacts, and weather.

  • iPhone doesn´t work like PDA properly, iPhone is only a Mp3 Player with Phone... there is not comparison between HTC Touch and iPhone

  • You are right when you say here is not comparison between HTC Touch and iPhone, I have both, HTC crashes all the time, yes you can add programs, bt they don't have processor enough to run, NO MULTI TOUCH SCREEN (Should have since the name is "touch"), no good camera, no GPS, no memory (iphone has 8G), yes the Touch is a kinda PDA< but the iPhone is much more than MP3 Player (and the HTC Touch, don't run properly MP3 musics

  • Woah....long fingernails and touch screens? do they mix? Looked creepy to me...

  • Because the HTC Touch came out way before the iPhone. How exactly is that copying? It was the iPhone who failed to be "revolutionary".

  • So, what about Visual Basic, .Net, Java and so on?

You think you cant write your own Windows Mobile programs?

And besides, do you own a HTC Touch?

    If not, i own...

And my HTC Touch is powerful than a Iphone, more integrated, much much smaller, and has got the same surf and music and video abilitys than the Iphone.

I think you should test the HTC Touch and see what it is about.

I testet the Iphone too and because of the abilitys and the Price my decision was the HTC...

  • Oh wow... Sorry, you can actually get the iPhone SDK now and not only install hundreds of various applications on the iPhone, but if you want, you can just write your own app, and even make money off of it.

Everyone knows the HTC Touch sucks, regardless of the iPhone's features. HTC hasn't revolutionized anything about the touch screen interface.

Also, Apple didn't steal the idea from HTC or whatever... Steve Jobs had been working on the first iPhone more than two years before it came out.

  • quake1991 is idiot , retard and loser. don't listen to him/her

  • ok... show me how you can install third party programs on ya fucking iphone without hacking someting...

else, the windows mobile powered devices are more integrated to the world than the iphone...

    the main conversation could be:

"woha, my iphone has a multitouch display!"

    and the windows mobile guy:

"i can install any programm i want, can sync with my pc, can use any theme i want, have a more powerful device - and your iphone sucks" =P

    fuckin apple fanboy =P

  • 'or even calling people' wow !

  • I find it funny. HTC have been making phones like this for years. of course the iphone made the realisation that people didnt want business like interfaces, they wanted a finger friendly and fun interface.

This came out BEFORE the iphone.
