@copperwalrus I would rather say it is more like snail mail and email. I email a lot but sometimes I write letters too. I read a lot on kindle but I buy books too. Let two things coexist peacefully, there are no winners or losers here...

I love books and have boxes full of them, but once I bought kindle about 2 years ago, I prefer buying digital books. I travel a lot and I don't have to haul boxes of books or heavy bookracks with me. I missed the feel of a book and but I am indifferent. I only wish they had better pdf support or better converters. Caliber does most but not for pdfs with illustrations. If anyone know better app, please let me know. I love my book and my kindle.

@lucyinthesky16 I was not being hostile, stating the facts

@DeathlyDavid No need to get hostile dude. simmer down.

@lucyinthesky16 As if, that only works for huge phenomenons, which Harry Potter started. Nobody used to wait at midnight in book stores. Regular novels DO NOT get midnight waiting parties. I was traveling to my Grandma's (300 miles from my home) by car on the day Rick Riordans "The Lost Hero" came out and we didn't have time to go to the bookstore and wait for it to come out. Well what do you know? I downloaded it AT MIDNIGHT precisely and went on reading the entire trip.

@DeathlyDavid Convenience is replacing social interaction. i think it's fun waiting in line at 11:50, sharing your excitement with fellow fans who are all waiting for the same book.

@e4e5d4 You know how much damage the chemicals in a kindle battery are going to do to the renewable trees? can you recycle all parts of a kindle? Did you know that most books are made from recycled materials now unlike Kindles? Kindle -1 book 1

There's no point. Now ereaders can lend books to your friends, no matter where they are, and there's no extra taxes. Easy as hell! Sorry, but paper books did not win.

This was a good demo back in 2009, but the lending feature on Kindle has changed things quite a bit. You can lend a book to another kindle user (or anyone really, they can get a free Kindle App for their computer or phone). They get to keep the book for 14 days and the cool part is it comes back to you automatically, no chasing your friend around to get your book back :)

i know this is old, but amazons actually coming out with a kindle book lending thing.. so you'll be able to lend your books out.
People feel the same way about the Kindle that people once felt about the Wright Flyer (if "men" were meant to fly, God would have given them wings) or Ford's horseless carriage (Get a horse). Just like all good inventions, the Kindle will come into its own despite the detractors.

Let's look at this in a another way: What if I had an Ipod with a 1000 songs on it ? Would it be smarter for me to have a couple hundred CDs instead so I can lend one out to a friend ? Does that mean CDs win of MP3s and MP4s ???
Once people are used to these E-Readers, they'll realize how much more convinient it is.
