A short clip of me driving a big American (hire car) in heavy, slow moving North Manhattan traffic whilst listening to a local radio show. I was over for work and decided to drive across to Queens from Newark - madness. At the end is a small sighting of a Honda Insight hybrid car amongst the gas guzzlers.

  • Sweet video!

    What year is this?

  • 2006 I think.

  • im heading over to NY on the 2nd of Sep, traffic seems way mad than london... kinda freaked out now :oI

anyways, is there an underground rail service there?? do they have travel cards and all?? i was thinking of renting a car but im kinda having second thoughts now... is it always like that?

  • Yeah, don't bother with renting a car, use the public transport. Buses are easier than the metro albeit slower. Cabs are great but a little more expensive. You can buy metro cards. The train system is pretty good so if you're going off the island. You can reach Newark and JFK easily by train. I had the car as I'd been travelling around NY state and was returning to Newark for my flight home.

  • i dont suggest keeping such a big gap between cars. that is inviting anyone to cut in front of you

  • @sarthakgr8 I agree! I was watching "Deadliest Roads" on the History Channel the other night and the drivers were in New Delhi and I thought that NYC was bad...but wow! Those drivers over there are INSANE! And you'd think they'd have like tons of accidents but they don't. I have a new respect for those drivers in New Delhi. They got some skills...I had NO idea it was like that over there

  • How did you like NYC compared to London??

  • Don't you just despise us, Americans? Hope you had a great time. Actually, i know many people in the L.A. area that drive small cars (a lot of Toyota Yarus and VW Golfs)

  • NYbeerdude you are correct. I am from Birmingham which is in the West Midlands, UK so driving in central Birmingham here is okay but during the rush hour it can get busy.

I have been to London several times and there I would use the subway and then walk but not really buses or taxi's due to the amount of traffic.

  • man you call that traffic lol.Wait till you come to New Delhi

  • To Queens from Newark, here's your best bet. NJ Transit, or PATH, into Manhattan, then your pick of LIRR, or the 7, E, F, R, or V subway lines.
