This is part 2 of a tutorial on how to build a medium sized diorama. The scene for this diorama is the Spartan Warrior Battle of Thermopylae. The diorama is two feet by three feet and wired for lighting and sound. This episode of the tutorial shows you how to cast the plaster shell with either Plaster cloth or Hydrocal. (You can do this with Plaster of Paris too).

Lots more fun stuff on my website at:

And the next installment of this tutorial coming real soon. Where I will start painting and adding grass and terrain features.

  • Hi sir. very nice! iam learning more in every video.

Iam about to make a samurai diorama.

i wanted to use extruded polystyrene. foam.. oasis (foam) on a wooden plate as a base.

but could i use normal kitchen towels or toilet paper with casts for something like this?

or is that not strong enough?

    thank you

  • @bleushift Good luck with the diorama and send me pics! Samurai diorama would be cool. The toilet paper is not strong enough. The kitchen towels might work. You should use strong paper towels. That is best.

  • how long have you been doing this

  • @TheMooingSheep Many years.

  • witch one of the plaster cloth and the hydrocal do you rekommend for a beginer?

  • @zombiesrules Plaster cloth is definitely easier to use.

  • ps just for the record if anyone gonna copy my idea.. your fake and gay

  • @epicfantasy thank you.

i promise i let you know and send you some pics when its finished.

but its gonna take a long time tho. cause it be pretty large.

the scale will be 1/72 and it will include a small village ona hill wich is basicly the daimo s last retrieval. it will have ninja climbing the hill and infiltrating the village from the sides and back. while a another samurai clan attacks the village from the front to retrieve their killed daimo s head.just still figuren out everything

  • incredible!
