Pink Start for Fifth Breast Cancer Awareness Walk A spectator was overheard saying it was neat seeing all that pink and all those neat spirited people. And so it was an "In The Pink" start for Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Murrells Inlet, Saturday, Oct. 2, as about 1,000 participants began at Imaging Center at Waccamaw Medical Park. They were on their way to the MarshWalk, before returning to the place of the start-off two miles later. The event, put on by the Georgetown Hospital System's Women's Board, includes an after-the-walk Duck-A-Palooza on the Inlet. Participants received a 2010 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk t-shirt. Proceeds benefited the Indigent Breast Cancer Fund and 25 per cent of the proceeds will support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Lowcountry Affiliate. The Duck-A-Palooza started at the pier beside Spuds Restaurant where the fun included anticipation, then excitement as participants cheered on thousands of "In The Pink" ducks as gliding down the Inlet. The ducks took about 50 minutes to arrive. Some escaped first and had to be chased. They seemed headed toward Garden City. Sponsorship included Just Ducky $5, Six Quack $30, Twelve Quack $60, Bunch O' Ducks $100 and Quacker Backer for $250.
