Neal Sher of Woodsmyths of Chicago demonstrates a basic and functional storage shelf. A project like this is a great way to get started in woodworking, plus it's needed in just about any home!
yeah, the host does suck. i dont think he has much of a clue what is going on. he constantly loses focus and starts looking at the camera, off camera and just at random stuff. i just finished a second set of these the other day, made it out of oak with a nice stain to match the furniture in my dining room. looks pretty nice.
@radicalman33 For the record I gave it a thumbs up but only because of Neal Sher. The problem with the host is he doesn't seem interested half the time and then he makes wise cracks that don't make sense. He's like some kid in class that wasn't paying attention and then says something stupid. I agree with what you're saying though.
i dont think that craftsman will look at the dislike rating here and realize the host sucks. i think that emails would let them know that. people will associate the dislikes with a bad project
@radicalman33 I agree what you say in principle as the craftsmen and their knowledge are the real resource here. That said the dislikes are also letting Craftsman know that their host is a tool and they should change him.
dont "dislike" this video based on the host. this is a nice looking, quite durable shelf. with such a high dislike rate a lot of people may be turned off to this project.
i just hate the host. i was looking for a decent looking shelf idea to make quickly. liked the look of this shelf. the builder did a pretty good job explaining what he was doing and how to make the shelf, but the host really ruined everything. once completed i think i might make another one with a more expensive wood and stain it to make it look nice. god i want to punch the host in the face!
music was distracting. punk kid host was distracting. all we really needed here was the old guy to just show us the steps without interruption and goofy 70's music
Cut out that crap music in the background, its the teacher we want to hear.

Instead of using the block he should make a storyboard then use that. Much easier, and faster.

Very nice Mr Sher. Many don't realize how difficult it is to make rapid progress while carrying on a teaching dialog. I enjoyed watching your work.
