I think they are kinda in between. A mix of like Backstreet Boys and Green Day, they have more guitar based songs and some are more punk/rock than pop/rock, but they have the ballads like boy bands, and they write their own songs and play the music, and are better than most "boy bands". I am a fan of JB (and BSB and Green Day) but you are right, some of their fans are crazy (I am not one of them thankfully) but some of them need to chill a bit, mainly the little tween girls that scream nonstop
