I was a little skeptical when I heard the opening line a few years ago (Dolly Parton covering Collective Soul? Didn't add up in my mind), but this version rocks! I love both versions for different reasons.

Aw, man. I've never dismissed Dolly; I grew up watching her on Porter and Hee Haw. But I really never got into her music...R&B and Led Zeppelin for me, thanks. But this is great. I really believe she's just got better and "deeper" through the years.

@Bigrobkerr I suspect you're being facetious here but just in case, lets be clear: "Shine" is a song by American post-grunge band Collective Soul. It served as the lead single from their 1993 debut album Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid. "Shine" would remain the band's most well known song and a hallmark of 1990s alternative rock. It became the #1 Album Rock Song of 1994, and won a Billboard award for Top Rock Track.

Actually dollyman2009, this song was on her 2001 set LITTLE SPARROW. She won the Grammy for Best Female Country Performance for it the next year, 2002, the same year HALOS & HORNS came out.
