Before and After - attempting a "film look".

the original footage (24p) is fairly film like already, then in post:

Premiere:
Magic bullet looks with heavy diffusion, contrast, knee, and color correction.
sharpen filter,
crop to 2.4:1
After effects:
lens blur'd background.

yes it could have been done better, but this was a quick test with nice results:)

  • Squeeze or letterbox??

  • @FrankAnthony91 use squeeze. both LB and SQ give the same resolution, but without getting technical, use squeeze it's the better choice.

  • I use Aftereffects, and motion tracked the people, but I'm sure FCP would be able to do it just the same, from my experience you want good settings on the camera, but Post matters more. wikki can prob explain diffusion better than me, basically a form of blur. as crazy as it sound I use both a Blur and Sharpen filter

  • That was actually pretty damn good, how did you add the backround blur, can it be done with final cut pro? Also, would lowering the masterpedestal on the dvx100b have the same effect as adjusting it in post? What exactly is heavy diffusion?
