Yes it can. Download AEButton Plus. Configure the 4 front facing buttons as follows;

Talk: Single Press: Left

Talk: Double Press: Talk

Home: Single Press: Up

Home: Double Press: Home

OK: Single Press: Down

OK: Double Press: OK

End: Single Press: Right

End: Double Press: End

Or whatever else you want using different buttons and re-assigning them with whatever functions you want.

it now works with the xperia's optical joystick...the optical joystick mode is still in development...but the trial version will let you try it out

No one buys apps for wm, pretty much everyone downloads them from warez sites. While for the iphone you have to do a whole procedure to do the same called 'jail break' which has also a risk of breaking your iphone. Although people are lazy loosers and they still buy apps from the app store, people like you.
