Hear Carmen Butcher read Hildegard's songs! This wonderful introduction to a 2007 title from Paraclete Press also features Carmen's singing an Old English hymn!
If you dig Hildigard's songs, check out "Marriage of the heavens and the earth". It's all songs written by Hildegard von bingen, interpreted beautifully by Catherine Braslavsky on vocals and Joseph Rowe on instruments. Hildegard is definitely worth learning about. Her transcendant lyrics are fresh to hear in a world of superficial pop music.
I have learned so much from Dr. Butcher's writings. She is an inspiration who makes faith living, breathable, and engaging. I most definitely recommend all of her books and look forward to getting her new one myself.
This charming vocal presentation by Dr. Carmen Butcher is an exciting foreword to her latest book, "Hildegard of Bingen". Dr. Butcher always delivers with scholarship, passion, and mastery of language--resulting in wonderful books with deep and abiding appeal. No doubt we have much to look forward to in "Hildegard of Bingen"!
Dr. Carmen Butcher is an engaging author and expert in her field. Her translations are modern, resonating with today's reader, while staying true to the ancient, but living spirit in which the texts were written. Her other works on medieval women mystics, Old English sermons, and St. Benedict all predict success for Hildegard of Bingen. I find myself humming the tune Butcher composed for the Anglo-Saxon hymn throughout my day. I am delighted with the song and anticipate reading her latest work.
If you think she sings pretty, wait till you read her writing! While I am yet to read this new book by Dr. Butcher, if it is anything like her other works, I, nor you I'm sure, will be dissapointed. I encourage anyone and everyone to get their hands on it, read it, and absorb every morsel of information divulged by Dr. Butcher. Do the smart thingen, read Hildegard of Bingen!
This is my wonderful English professor, author of several inspirational books. I would highly encourage anyone to check out her new book. How many professors do you know who would sing an Anglo-Saxon hymn on the internet?!
Very good .
