Cat stuck in St. Laurent tree 5 days Nov-13-2009 Montreal

A viewer alerted Montreal CTV about a cat that's apparently been caught in a tree for the past five days in a backyard in St. Laurent.

The Montreal borough says after sending an official to investigate, the cat is too difficult to reach. The animal is on an upper branch about 100 feet in the air.

There's also no room in the backyard to get a mechanized retrieval unit with a basket in place.

The fire department says it no longer does animal rescues.

Officials say they're now hoping the cat eventually comes down on its own.
