[WATCH IN HD FOR BEST AUDIO & VIDEO QUALITY]

Part IV of my tutorial video series for the piano version of Snuff, by Slipknot.

Be sure to subscribe to make sure you're kept in the loop with the next tutorial, and all future videos by me.

I've intentionally refrained from using music theory jargon in this video, and will continue to do so for the remainder of the series. I personally enjoy music theory and learning from it, however not everybody appreciates it or has a comprehensive understanding of it. So to help make this a generic video, I've toned down on the technical language.

Sustain pedal, dynamics (loud & quiet), and articulation (how you connect each note to the next) are things that I'm leaving to the player. You're on your own with these, so experiment and enjoy. The best tools for dynamics and articulation are your own ears. Listen to the original song and get a feel for how it should be interpreted.

I'm aware that most pianists will find this a walk in the park. In the grand scheme, this isn't a difficult song. However, it's designed to help those who are struggling learning it and/or have recently taken up playing the keys.

If you still need help, feel free to write me and I'll see what I can do for you.

*Full credit for the piano arrangement goes to Vika Yermolyeva. The transcription for the piano is her work and I like to give credit where it's due. Visit www.vkgoeswild.com for more info*

  • In all your other videos, you told the viewer exactly which note you was pressing... In this you didn't, disappointed, really wanted to learn this!

  • @Harveys995 Sorry to hear you had a hard time learning this part. I realise the tutorial videos aren't all-encompassing; there's only so much info and detail you can possibly go into without things becoming too stale too soon. The attempt was to strike a balance between providing detail and making progress - after all, a note-for-note explanation for every part and/or section could be 10 videos long by itself, let alone discussing rhythm, chords, speed, left & right hands, etc.

  • @Zer0MT its fine mate, your other videos are epic! i think its only this one so fair play... im going to have to slow down the video and look and listen to each key properly but i dont mind. thanks for the tutorial in the first place and keep it up!, your awesome on the piano!!!!

  • @Harveys995 Awesome, glad you like them and that they've helped somewhat. I guess in my mind I was thinking people would have to go back and rewind things anyway as you wouldn't get everything on a first playthrough.

Cheers man for the support and let me know if I can help in any way with learning the song.

  • @Harveys995 It's pretty tricky to include everything, for everyone, all of the time. So these are best thought of as general all-round tutorials that cover multiple aspects of the song (tempos, rhythms, chords, song sections, melodies and so on) rather than just note-for-note walkthroughs. The early videos were more in this fashion to get things rolling initially. But thanks for watching anyway.

  • Dude. You didn't slow down like at all. All your other videos up until this one helped a lot but you should have slowed down a lot more. I have no idea what keys your pushing.

  • @CarolDarlene15 You've probably already done this, but I definitely recommend upping the video to 1080p HD to get the best video detail, and then play in full screen. You'll get a better idea of what keys are being played this way. Cheers.

  • @CarolDarlene15 The parts were slowed down to the same tempo and broken down using the same principle as the other videos - left hand separately, then right hand, then both hands together, and then sped up to the correct tempo. So speed-wise it's no faster or slower than the other videos.

I can appreciate the keys not being amazingly visible at all times. I would've liked to have put in another camera angle, as it's not easy to play and move the hand for the camera. But HD cams are pricey.
