I studied with him and one of his most senior students. Master A.S. is no joke and not sloppy like some of you lower belts seem to think. He's far more experienced and better than most of you. I've seen him back in the day. He was an excellent martial artist and I have to say that his students and the teachers I had were dedicated to making you better. I've practiced martial arts for many years and it is a mistake to think someone's perceived style means they must lack something.
@EUROVISIONUSA that sucks he had to change the name Karate to Kung Fu. Karate is an amazing art. But the guy had to make a living I guess, but he shouldn't have lied. But Im sure Bruce Lee era would have been a tough time to learn Karate-do.
@franklin3321 You know it was a different era, and people cant seem to see the way they move was different for its generation. He did it hard and fast, you can tell he gave his all. It wasn't fancy but thats not the point, its a fight. Your right sometimes we forget why we do Kata other than competition, and Im glad there are still people with sense out there. Good comment.
To all you critics of this man's way of executign his kata, I can care less if you look like Rudolf Nureyev while doing your kata. The question is can you fight? This man is a true karate teacher.
For this younger, insulting generation: During these times, Kata was performed in the True spirit of their significance: Fighitng techinques. Katas were performed in a Fighting style, every move was visualized as if engaged in an actual fight. In contrast, Many perform Kata in an empty manner, just to keep balance to prevent points deduction, and no Bunkai application what-so-ever. You have learned nothing From Martial Arts or your Instructors.

Classic lines: "A man can know karate, and he may be an expert, but that doesn't mean he's Superman, and it doesn't mean he's invincible."

Got give him credit though, "No one is invincible..." He was a smart enough martial artist to see that at least.
