My first video operating qrp with my ft817nd with a sled kite lifting an end fed half wave antenna cut for 80m.

  • Yes it was windy, maybe a bit too windy for my sled. The recommended limit for the kite is 20mph and my guess was that it certainly exceeded that at times. The field where I fly is surrounded by tall trees and causes the wind to to swirl around quite a lot, so it can be quite difficult to get the kite to fly in a stable manner. I'm going to get a large cody box kite as I believe these are affected less by turbulence.

  • Great kite Phil, I like the sleds, I have one myself but haven't tried using it for an antenna, though a kite antenna is something I've always wanted to try. It was very windy there with the trees in the background.
