Puyo Puyo Fever - 19 Chains (3-1 Kaidan Variation)

It speaks for itself, it really does. 3-1 Kaidan is a basic technique that beginners can use as it helps tower chaining patterns. After learning Kaidan the transition to GTR is adapted. Kaidan (3-1 or 2-2) can be a good base especially if the player's piece arrangement allows for it to be flexible. Here's a prime example of running through PPF and, with garbage as a factor, and abusing the vanishing trick somewhat, getting the maximum yield of chains that the game can offer.

The vanishing trick is actually a glitch in the coding schematic. Above the 12th row is a 13th row that can store a puyo, however, if you keep rotating the puyos so that they fit on top of the 13th row, it doesn't register in the game's grid, therefore it 'vanishes'. Typically, when a puyo hidden in the 13th row falls onto the visable grid, it is referred to as Yuurei (Ghost), and this can be used in conjunction with the vanishing trick to allow you to fit a maximum of 78 puyos on the grid (6x12 plus the 13th row). Fever rules differs slightly than Classic rules in terms of grid dimensions, as if you pile either of the middle columns 12 puyos high (indicated by 'X'), it's game over. 19 chains can still be done though, even with Treble and Quadruple-piece puyos (as shown here).

Puyo Puyo SUN is the only game to allow a maximum chain yield of 20, as it has a 13th and 14th row coded (vanishing still works, as it doesn't register puyos in the 15th row).

@AtlasOmegaAlpha 20 chains is not possible in Fever, but in Puyo SUN and Minna de (GBA), you can create 20 chains. You can also create 20 chains in Puyo Puyo SUN rules on Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary. Hope this helps.
