Flicker is a project that uses 150 light sensors, 150 AC/DC solid state relay switches, 150 AC lights, a box, a candle, and reflective paper to create an interactive experience inviting the viewer/user to put his/her hand into the box with the candle to create shadows, to blow on the candle, which triggers the larger lights to turn on and off. When the candle in the box is lit, all of the large room lights are off, when the candle is without any flame, all of the lights are on. Somewhere in between with the natural flicker of the candle's flame, the room becomes a lighted flickering environment as an embodiment of the flame's behavior.
