Summary day 3 & day 4 of TU Graz Racing's stay at SVSU

In the past two days we did a lot of shopping and skidpad testing.
Transporting the car by plane meant not being able to take all spareparts and supplies with us. Therefore we had to buy things locally which wasn't always that easy. Sales people are very helpful and finally we made it.
At testing, our first aim was to improve our Tankia's skidpad qualities. We achieved finetunings and the skidpad setup enhanced very well.

  • yeah, steel space frame is comfortable! my last 2 chassis were steel space frame, the jig was harder to make! lol. But a monocock carbon fibre chasis is another level! not only for fixing methods, use of adhesives, FEA analysis, equivalency calcs, and last but not least the molds. Very very expensive, way out of our university's budget.

Body work is considerably easier, our floor pan, steering wheel, pedal box and body work were carbon fibre. but we could not attempt a chassi :(

  • Unfortunately our team (not in this video), has a steel spaceframe chassis, however we do make, (and make the moulds for) full carbon fibre body work. Which we are actually doing a layup for as I type this.

  • Really? you make the Carbon fibre monocock chassis in this video including the moulds?

  • It's generally entirely (or mostly) undergrad students (at least in the US) And we build the entire car, from design to competition.

  • Great video!!

  • question to you: how much of this car did the students make? also are undergrad students alowed to take part or is it post grad only?
