@themistoklisp If you are trying to find out what is right and just, the Quaker way is to listen to the light within, and not ask, "What did George Fox say about this or what do other meetings believe?"
Very much impressed by Quakers beliefs and the love they have for all people. They are like Chisti Sufis in Islam who extends love to every one whoever she/he is (without asking any question).
The Quakers are not perfect. No one is perect. But the Quaker congregations inspire me so much more than people who use thier churches to pray for wealth or to put people they are scared of down. I don't care if Quakers are "real" Christians. People don't become OK by adhering to a label. The Quakers believe in the basic goodness of every human, and that, if anything, is Christ's message.
Our church was a member of the NC FUM and we were in fact forced to leave FUM becasue we have been convinced that GLBT people should be welcome in our meeting without restrictions. So we left on our own not wishing to be put down and continue meet in a home( we did not own our bld), we are very small but things have never been better. Peace from Asheville
the, gluttony is a sin, actually it is one of the 7 deadly sins ,but there are more obese people than gay people in America and ya dont see any one picketing an "all you can eat buffet". Obese celabrate their so called "sin" as well by going to over weight shops, night clubs for chub chasers, etc.
The ,if Goeroge Fox said back then that Homosexuality was ok , they would have stoned him to death, there is something to be said for folloing the crowd ,,back then it saved your behind.
the ,I was raised in a Quaker family and a long line of Quakers on both sides, and it is actually rare that Quakers oppose gay rights, Quakers are very helpful in fighting for gay rights in the last 40 yrs.
Saying that something is a sin doesn't mean that we hate anyone. We love EVERYONE. I say, that I have sinned in many ways but I ask Christ to forgive me and change me through His power. Love is to say things as they are and show the way to overcome. Namely through the Gospel - the power of God.
They are not quakers! No person who reads the bible would support that activity.
To support this their souls were wounded.
