My "conversion" to atheism

@ADSciple No. You shouldn't accept all information. That's being stupid, not "open minded." Information should be persuasive on its own, regardless of how I feel towards it. The truth isn't the truth because I like it.
None of the god stuff makes sense. You've told yourself it makes sense...but, maybe you have a peculiar definition for what makes sense. Have you ever pondered that you might be wrong and ill informed? I mean, you advocate being open minded....

my favorite part is the Scientology ad before the video.

@Skindoggiedog I say, correction very much appreciated ol boy!
English is my native tongue, I just have no significant qualifications thus have not picked up the lexicon particular to academia. I just pickup various concepts along the way as I study in my own time.

@kommissarw Great posts. Not to be critical for the sake of it, but I thought I'd point out that you're using 'sighted' when it's actually 'cited'. Judging by your name, perhaps English isn't a first language? Hopefully you take this correction in the manner it's intended.
Cheers.

@ADSciple man made god into their own image, jesus was made a god by man.christianity is tommorows mythology.all religions die,all gods die.christianity has turned into a money god, just see any program on tv on sunday mournings.

@kommissarw ...Cont..*would NOT establish the current existence of God
If the texts were to be believed..God has ceased performing miracles because of a change of interest/inclination, reduction of power, or ceased existence.

@ADSciple This approach has the integrity of creative accounting.
Reasons sighted usually sighted total non-sequiturs such as the uniqueness of snowflakes & the like. Even the lies of Intelligent Design, if they were true, would not prove it was God.
Even if you had somehow proven the origins of existance of God, that would establish the current existance of God. According to the most old religious texts, miracles happened, yet nothing like it happens now. If the texts were to be believed..

If there is any one piece of evidence for your god, then it should stand on its own. It should be convincing to everyone. One's personal view should not change that. Of course, if it's not evidence, but just an excuse for someone to believe who feels he needs one, then that's a personal choice for your taste.

Hi askegg, I just wondered 2 things. Having read the Bible, at 5:16 you ask why Christ had to die. I thought he eternally existed (if one accepts the words of John) and so couldn't be killed no more than one could kill a ghost or an emotion. Also, you're video holds Christians to the standard of the OT, though Christians are Judged according to the NT. ~just wondering

@mina7versace If the myth is to be believed, the god of the old testament is also his own son Jesus. As such, what one does the other is responsible for.

On the contrary, your decision is based on faith alone. Faith that there is no God, despite the abundance of scientific, historical, and logical evidence that DOES exist. You have faith that you are your own little coincidence with your own control, so that you cannot be told that anything is wrong. The difference with your faith and mine, is that yours is blind, and mine is open and set on stone. Look for the evidence and be WILLING to see and hear the evidence before saying there is none.

@ADSciple I don’t “have faith” there is no god anymore than I “have faith” leprechauns do not exist. There is no need for faith where evidence actually exists. You say you have some - give me the best evidence you have and we’ll see if it measures up.
BTW, evidence is not contingent on anyone being “willing to see and hear”. It is persuasive on its own terms, unless you are wilfully ignorant, close minded, or insane.

@askegg Exactly my point: Closed-minded means not being willing to "see and hear" new information openly. You are trying to use what I said to...invalidate what I said?
Now, the "best evidence" is entirely personal. What is the particular area that you find most relevant? Give me a specific topic. What would convince you the most that God does, or does not, exist?

@ADSciple It is not up to me to supply you with arguments and evidence to support *your* claims.
