that ferret was fine. in america you seem to really baby your ferrets. i live in england and five of them just as pets and for working. they have got to be the toughest animals i have ever owned! one of our hobs rattled the hutch open and went on the rampage for one night. we found him in the garage having a bust up with our english bull terrier! who survived without a scratch. MR Ferret!
i would sit at the back of our treadmill to make sure sammy didnt get hurt, i would catch him if he stopped... it was great excercise and he loved it very much, he would always sit on the treadmill sometimes waiting for excercise time.
Seriously, I have to agree, THE FERRET WAS FINE. Plus, that dangly thing on the treadmill is an EMERGENCY STOP thing. I have one and if it's pulled it will stop the treadmill so fast there is no time to slip. Usually it's clipped on clothing so if the person falls the treadmill stops, but the owner could have just pulled it! It stops it faster than unplugging it.
Most ferrets put THEMSELVES in more danger than that every day. Trust me, I have 2 & you can't be sweat small stuff with them!
Well as I said before, and the comment was removed, I work in a vets office and I see ferrets being mangled up and crushed in these kinds of machines all the time. Being supervised means nothing with a ferret. It's like watching as a five year old kid plays in a four lane superhighway.
@badmuffy. The machines that kill more ferrets are recliners, reclining couches, washing machines, & dryers. Never heard of one from a treadmill, but I have to agree with you on it. The worst that I could see happening is his tail or foot being caught in the guards at the end of the treadmill. It would for sure be an accident that could have been prevented.
I work in a vets office and I see these horrible things every day!! ferrets getting crushed and torn up in excersice machinery, and in other household appliances..You really need to do some reading about ferret safety..
