  • Great video. I used to cross everyday as well when I was in the navy and lived in Saltash Was usually a 6400 class pannier with 2 or 4 coaches depending on the time. If 4 coaches engine was in the middle with the fireman firing and driving, the driver was in the lead coach. Engine always took water at Saltash on most journeys.

  • Excellent! I used to cross the bridge on the old 'motor train'(0-4-0T) one coach in front and one behind, every day to go to school in Saltash from St.Budeaux way back in the 1940's. The train featured maybe the 'The Cornish Riviera Express' Paddington to Penzance on which our next door neighbour of those days was a Guard.
