Gee! I don't think his script writers intended for that to come out. Actually, I heard in the special Olympics Obamas score wouldn't even qualify him for finals. This was only the beginning of many blunders to come for Obama.

I think it depends on the person with a joke like this, and with Obama theres no ill will at all. I dont think he has any contempt for handicapped people whatsoever. He did all the community service work when he was younger right, obama's everything but a bully. There are alot of people who mock the special olympics out of a social darwinian cast the weak sort of urge. Obama just seemed to be selfdepricating himself more than anyone.

He shouldn't be demonized for it. The people who give Obama a pass on this, but would demonize Republicans or George Bush for saying this, and we all know there are tons of people who would, should be demonized for doing that. I honestly find that to be the bigger point in remembering this; the hypocrisy of people.

Maybe it's not as much the joke that's bad as the probability that if a Republican like Bush or Romney had said this, they would be roasted alive by the media and liberals. Kind of a double standard, but hey, that's politics.
