This is the first video of potential fade algorithms for the LED Scanner 32. I built a straight-line LED array with 32 high brightness LEDs from BG Micro (.com) part number LED1060. The processor is an Atmel AVR ATmega8515. I wrote the code in C using WinAVR/GCC + AVR Studio. As usual, my video of LEDs leaves much to be desired. The scanning effect is quite nice in person. Any video tips for LEDs would be appreciated.

  • how much to make me one? My hands are not able to do delicate work anymore but love BSG and want to make a bust of a Cylon.

  • @bullworth3040,

Sorry, it was just a prototype! As built, it wouldn't work for a bust, anyway, because it was 8 inches long and straight. It would need to curve to fit in a helmet. I've tried to make these screen-accurate before and it's just too much work and they're never "quite right". So, just a fun prototype, and I've already sold the only one I made. Thanks for watching!

  • Michael - I'm glad you like it! Yes, I can build one of these for you. Contact me via email dale [at] dale wheat [dot] com.
