I stumbled onto this video a while back and i am so knocked out by Robbies tone and emotion that he plays with on this...wow he squeezes it out of that zumm on this.

@cornbobrimlove I agree about drums drummers have this notion that they have to knock everyone over with ten million rolls and accents, there was a REASON the Opry didn't allow drums until the 50's I would MUCH rather hear a rhythm guitar or mandolin. a Snare and high hat is ALL that is needed!.
Modulation.. I do NOT agree with you Hit the REWIND button... Bill Thanks for posting Robbie is a great player////That Steel was on the forum not to long ago for sale nice ZUM...Thanks Bill

This is a 1999 D10 ZumSteel 9 pedals and 9 knee levers made by Bruce Zumsteg of Harrisonville,MO(ST Louis). The end plates are black making it look like the tuner head extends past end of the guitar but they don't. THE unison thing ROBBY does is raising the 1st string(F#) to G# to match the 3rd string. On a standard steel this would be a RKL but not on this steel. Yes he is GREAT on steel and he is also my COUSIN! :) He sold this steel anyway and has a NEW SHOW PRO! among others

The unison thing R_O_B_B_Y does is raising the 1st string(F#) to G# to match the 3rd string. Normally a RKL but not on this steel which he no longer has anyway. He is my Cousin!!!! :)

This video is PURE MAGIC...love the drummer, love the video quality, love every aspect of this video. Robbie has now become one of my newest heroes. Got to agree with 67dodgeepolara....brings tears to the eyes. Excellence at my age always makes me cry. Part of getting older I guess. keep 'em coming...a good cry is a good thing every once in a while. thanks Bill RC

@cornbobrimlove I TOTALLY agree Steel Playing GREAT!!.
Drums sound like Boxes falling down the stairs(borrowed term from late Father).
one is beautiful thank you!.
for some reason Drummers think they need 24 cymbals 16 Toms a Few Bass drums whatever happened a High Hat&snare? BRUSHES?:)
Steel playing simply doesnt get better than this, the mans talent and passion is immense, as for distractions, this is an amateur camcorder video, hello!! If a bus went passed who cares, I hear only the steel and this mans playing is just awesome!

Well would you rather have this video with an "amateur camcorder" or no video at all????
Pretty much a nobrainer in my opinion.

The steel performance is beautiful but the drummer sounds like someone building a house!! All that thrashing and banging is tasteless in this song!! Take a lesson.A warning of the modulation would have been nice too!

You have to understand. None of this was rehearsed. PERIOD

Does anyone know what he does in the C-Bflat-F sequence were the notes are unisono ( 1.20 and 1.22 ).Which pedal or lever does he use.

Robbie raises his first string a whole tone to make the change you are talking about. This is pretty common on most steels now.
