Music track from Myth~ Xenogears Orchestral Album.

Naturally after creating the orchestral version of the ending and credits, I had to make the opening.

Boy, was this a pain in the ass.

First off, unlike Small Two of Pieces, the timing is nowhere near the original video, since the orchestra plays the track as its own pace as oppose to following the video, which makes sense for the album, but makes editing a pain.

Alot of sections had to be time compressed or stretched individually, which took hours to get right to match up with the OST's version of the opening music. One part was actually missing several bars compare to the original, its the part where the Captain tells the girls to evacuate. I had to sneak in part of the original music from the game so that its not silent at that part.

Certain sound effects had to be extracted from the original video's track and mixed into the final take, like the explosion and fire burning sound at the end. I have manged to get rid of the original music using Adobe Audition and just leave most of the voices and sound effects, although it is not as clean as I like it to be, since you can still hear strange artifact sounds in the background.

Still, overall it sounds decent, and gives people the idea of what could be if we had an orchestral opening for Xenogears. Enjoy!

  • no matter how many times i read the storyline...i just dont quite understand the Elderridge event

  • @nabasta

Apparently the ship was carrying Deus aka the God you kill at the end or something. You can find out more plot details in the fan translation of the Perfect Works Guide book. Google it to find out more.

  • I can attest to how hard this is to do as I tried to do it myself. the music didnt sync so i didnt bother. great work! glad to see someone who also thought of doing this and actually succeeded! :)

  • @martyknox

Thanks! Like I said in the video description, it took hours to match it up right using audio editing software. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • WOW! Great job!

  • @seieireppa He made contact with the biological computer Kadomony (one component of the Deus system), and his desire for a mother instilled a mother's will into the computer, creating the original Elhaym (which later created two separate beings, the first Antitype (Elly) and the original Miang. Or something like that.

  • @nabasta Okay, so here's what basically happened. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back when, the people of some planet were engaged in some terrible war (possibly with aliens, but I'm not sure). One side constructed a weapon (Deus) to use against the other side, but due to tough circumstances they had to leave the planet on the Eldridge. However, while in flight, Deus awakened and killed everyone on board, causing the ship to crash on the Xenogears planet. Abel (original Contact) was the only survivor.

The Eldridge was carrying a terraforming weapon named Deus out of the system. On the way to its destruction site, Deus became self aware and took over the ship, trying to turn itself towards the federation trying to destroy it (IIRC). The Captain, with no choice, self destructs the ship to save the federation homeworld. One escape pod survives .. I can't quite recall how Miang came to be, I think it had something to do with the Zohar.

  • Excellent editing work. I would never have realized the music was cut if you hadn't pointed it out. Surely I'm not the only one to find that this whets my appetite for a Xenogears remake... if Square Enix and Nintendo can ever agree to collaborate on it, that is.

  • This clearly took a lot of work and I commend you for your dedication. If I might offer one small criticism though, in certain parts it is hard to understand what the characters are saying and some of the sound effects are dulled. I certainly don't expect you to go back and re-do this but perhaps it's something you can keep in mind for the future. Again, really amazing job overall.

  • absolutely amazing...If I won a mega lotto Jack pot I would remake Xenogears into an unforgettable and beautiful PS game.
