Don Hamm, CEO of Assurant Insurance admits to Bart Stupak (D-MI U.S. Representative) he is unable to understand his own company's application.

House Committee Oversight and Investigations

Witnesses testified about the practice of "post-claims underwriting," which occurs when insurance companies cancel individual health insurance policies after providers submit claims for medical services.

  • WWWAHAHAHA Stupak just bitched slapped the three stooges. AWESOME!

  • TIA's, and the other items on Q. 14 are medical events/problems. If you've had one, you'd know. That the representative of Assurant and Mr. Barton don't know just indicates that they don't have knowledge of those terms--and those health challenges. They would be pre-existing conditions.

  • I have Assurant Health Insurance and it should be a criminal offense to jack insurance premiums 30-40% ANNUALLY when healthcare costs are contained around 7%! DO NOT BUY YOUR INSURANCE FROM ASSURANT!!!!!

  • that was awsome ..i would love to see any of them on the streets.. they are just like child molesters!

  • what a scumbag

  • Those insurance company con artists sure do prevaricate expertly. Should have found them in contempt of Congress. If your are asked a question during a Congressional hearing.

The Congressmen needed better follow up. He pointed out they cancelled for non-relevant omissions, and the beady eyed rat guy disagrees, then says they are only cancelled for issues relevant to to underwriting, which is NOT what the Congressman was asserting.
