This is a video clip from an onboard camera on a freight train that is struck and derailed by a tornado. The derailment happens at 1:10. After the initial derailment, the remainder of the trian, lead by a tanker, bounces down the tracks, slamming into the back of the engine.

  • i believe this is in Harvard, IL

  • @DodgeDakotaPolaris Can't, when cars derail, brake line is cut and the entire train is put into emergency. Basically the train stops immediately and takes another 5 mintues to put air into the brakes again.

  • wow. what a mess.

  • sweet

  • That blows my mind- I appreciate the force of twisters- but the physics of forcing something with the mass of a railroad car off the road are mind blowing !! Where and how did you get this?

  • Now, THAT was pretty fricken cool!

  • hmmm .
