I filmed Barry Baker running a few practice laps at west coast rc raceway in La Mirada, CA. He's running 1/8th scale Electric. This buggy is the O'Donnell. Keep in mind, that a fast racer, is fast with almost any buggy. Though a good buggy certainly helps a pro racer to get around the track much smoother and therefore faster lap times. This video is posted with permission from Barry Baker. Barry has been in the RC industry his entire life. Barry makes going fast around the track look easy, but this is a lifetime of experience behind the wheel of various types and size RC's. Notice how Barry uses the entire track in practice, he will go all the way to the very edge of the outside of a turn, and then cut that turn on the inside so close to the pipe, his front wheel sometimes touches the pipe. Notice on the big tripple jump in front of the driver stand, Barry makes his buggy lean to the side and show you the bottom of his chassis, this is one of my favorite moves and in order to achieve this, once you've jumped into the air, you turn your wheels to the right, and your buggy will lean to the left side, or lift the right side of the buggy up and drop the left side down, thus showing you the underside of the buggy. it's a fun move to do, that I'm still learning. Most of the time, I'm happy with I land in the proper place on the downslope of the landing of the jump, and also before the jump, coming into and out of the turn before the jump is extreemly important and allow a perfect jump clearance combined with perfect throttle control. If you do not yet own an RC buggy, The 1/8th scale class of buggies is allot of fun. And many many choices to choose from. Enjoy the video, and I hope you can learn from watching it, such that I have and will continue to do, in addition to lots of practice time at the track. And always talking to people faster than you, to learn all you can about how to become a better, faster driver, and then to also share that knowledge with others, who will always be just starting out in the hobby. Have a Great Day :-) And always let the good times roll.
