Brett B. was charged with Reckless Driving last summer. He was returning home from the beach and due to a faulty speedometer, was travelling much faster than he thought.
He retained Virginia reckless driving attorney Tony Stelly to represent hiim on this charge.
Reckless Driving is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia, that can result in up to a year in jail, and loss of one's driver's license for a year.
If convicted of this charge, and the speed involved, Brett was facing not only a suspended license, but possible jail time and a criminal record.
Through negotiations with the Commonwealth's Attorney, and the arresting officer, a plea agreement was struck that reduced the charge to speeding.
This spared Brett the stigma of having a criminal record to report on job applications and other potential opportunities.
