Okay, I see where you're coming from, But I fear there will never be a faithful Bond portrayal on the Big screen! While I feel Craig captures the dark and physical side of Bond perfectly, He does not have Brosnan's wit, or Connery's charm! But to be fair, he hasn't been given the material! Like you said, concessions have to be made for film. Sadly, you don't get to see what makes a character tick without internal monologue and exposition!

Well,I did read Dr No,Goldfinger and The Man with the golden Gun.I agree that none of film "superhero" Bonds are comparable to the the novel Bond,but then again,that's a concession to make the films more interesting (for example,watching him do organization stuff behind a desk while thinking about writing a book (like in "Goldfinger")) wouldn't be attractive on screen).But even in the novels,he's much more than a dim-witted grunt with only 1 facial expression who behaves like an asshole...

Craig was great in Casino Royale! QUOS was a waste, And Skyfall wasn't perfect, but he can pull it off with better writing and the right script! Bond isn't supposed to be a super suave, smart ass chimp in a tux! He's supposed to be dark, flawed, and, dangerous! Read the novels! None of the actors have nailed the character! Some have done better than others!
