GRUNROOTS with: Behsat Uvez (Turkey) saz & cura & ud & vocal & percussion, Alex Simu (Rumania) flute & clarinet & tenorsax, Bert van Erk (Netherlands) doublebass, Mousse Pathe M'Baye (Senegal) sabar & djembe & tama & vocal. All are based in Groningen in The Netherlands. They improvise on own compositions and Turkish classics. The band's first concert was this one on the ZomerJazzFietsTour (the prettiest festival in Holland).

J'invente surtout les thèmes sur lesquels on peut improviser.
Parfois je compose une mélodie avec un texte pour chanter.
Mes compositions sont surtout utilisées dans mes propres ensembles comme
Bert's Breeze, CrinCrin, Afro Jazz Jam et Tegenwind.
J'arrange aussi les pièces d'autres compositeurs comme Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk ou
Charles Mingus.
Je compose et arrange aussi pour les projets musicaux ou théâtraux ou en commission.

Hey Bert,great playing here in this little progressive Church (without pastor for a change) You guys made me "groove" behind my computer,good tight ensemble playing and that saxsolo was far out man, those fietsers shure had a nice variaton along the way,greets Victor.
