They're not calling each other liers.....the word for lier is "shakran", they're not saying that, the word "sheker" which you keep picking up on them saying is them arguing about the Talmudic principle of "Mah li li'shaker", which simplified is the idea that when a litigant makes a claim and he could have theoretically made a better claim, then his choice of inferior claim bolsters his credibility, becuase "Mah li li'shaker", which loosely translates to "What do I have from lying?"
