@araregoodguy Lighting candles is offering accompanying prayers. Who are you(your background) to dictate? It is not just an occult practice,besides Christianity others faiths use them as well.

Thank you. That was beautiful. I am on the path to Orthodoxy. This is very helpful to a protestant/restorationist like me -- one who no longer wishes to protest or restore what was never lost. I long to worship with my whole self, my whole life, and with meaning and connection to a body that extends to millions who have come before me. I long to be a part of the Orthodox church. My family and friends will object, but I know it's the right path. God bless.

Why are these people (Greek Orthodox) theologically conservative but politically liberal? In America they give their support to a party which is pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage. In Greece there are even Orthodox members of the socialist party.
