The text on this video is a lie. The cops were called to the library; they just didn't walk in and start carding people. Students are issued ID cards, and know that trespassers will be asked to leave, and arrested if they refuse. The guy was told to leave since he refused to identify himself as a student. When he didn't leave, the cops arrested him for Trespassing.... a perfectly legal charge. Then he resisted arrested, and the cops followed procedure for that too.

Yeah, but I seem to recall that before tazers came along, all but the most psycho cops were usually willing to wait and talk things out with a suspect first. Using a baton required a cop to get up close and personal. Nowadays, cops can obtain instant compliance by simply pressing a button, and not even worry about getting their uniforms dirty. Tazers may do less damage, but it's made them lazy and more quick to resort to using force.

Sure, let's get rid of the Taser and go back to the 26-inch baton. Let's bring back all those broken bones and stitches the baton caused, and the Taser was designed to prevent. Never mind that the Justice Department says Tasers are safe, nevermind that not a single person has ever died from a Taser, and nevermind that places which have adopted the Taser have seen a drastic drop in cop/suspect injuries.

Let's just get back to the days when the cops broke bones and lacerated flesh.
