One little beep sounds like a friendly 'off you go' or two short ones is a friendly chav hello. One long angry blast is generally accepted as 'You feckin tw*t' So I'm told. :)

I love the idea of recumbents. Fast and aero. No saddle up yer bum!
But they are even more invisible than regular bikes. If I lived in Holland, I'd get one. Over here, there's no way I'd risk it.

@TesterAnimal1 People who've no experience with them suggest they are invisible, but the reverse is true - they are 10 times more visible than a normal bike.
You can see how the driver in this video sees me easily, but then cuts around despite knowing I'm there. She'd have driven over me in the left lane if she hadn't seen me.

@lsmike Yes, she saw you but the usual almost subconscious logic clicked in: "I'm insured, it'll all be OK, I'm going for it regardless".
There's no way I would contemplate *my* commute on a recumbent though. It's totally insane, and I have to have eyes in the back of my head, look down every gap round every vehicle, *over* some vehicles.

@TesterAnimal1 That's no different on a recumbent, my commute is into the West End in London so I'm not short of light/fast/heavy/medium traffic on my commute.
Us two-wheelers have to plan ahead and account for the mistakes made by other road users, because they often don't plan ahead or do any form of anticipation or thinking.

I wonder what would happen if you got off and calmly showed her the video on the forecourt.

I was tempted at the time, if only to tell her to search for her registration on youtube. :P
