@rovingdesertfox You're right. The world isn't making much sense these days. The world of oepra seems to be especially sad. Even my local opera company seems to be hiring pretty people without much attention being paid to the voices. Our General Director even wrote an article in the local opera magazine about all of the "young attractive" people he was hiring. Ack! Maybe it does all have to fall and then be raised up again.

@arpeggio1358 You are spot on with your analysis. And...I accept your apology also.............
Seems like the whole world is making less sense as each day goes by. Perhaps everything has to fall to then be raised up again in a more healthy atmosphere. Let's hope.

@jgraif Lanza had an exquisite voice and could have been the toast of the world's great opera houses if he had had the discipline for an opera career. Perhaps it is best that he chose to be in films. We are lucky that so many of his recordings have survived. i've never seen Lanza as being rejected though.

@babooom69 I realize that many enjoy AB's music, but hitting a high C doesn't make him an opera singer. It takes much more than high C's for that. If you don't know much about opera, please listen to Fritz Wunderlich, Pavarotti, Domingo, Jussi Bjorling, Piotr Beczala to hear what a real opera singers sounds like. AB has a nice voice, but there are others whose voices are better suited to opera. AB sings other types of music much better than he sings opera.

@rovingdesertfox Perhaps I was a bit harsh. I apologize. I'm frustrated that the popera singers like Bocelli get so much adulation and money when there are very fine opera singers out there who aren't noticed. Even in the world of opera today, too often singers are hired because they're physically attractive rather than because they have exceptional voices. The poeple in charge of opera houses seem to think pretty singers bring bigger audiences into the theaters. It's sad.

@arpeggio1358 Thanks for the sermon. I am familiar with the genres of singing. He doesn't disgrace himself when he sings opera, that is what I was commenting on. You were the one being nasty and crude when you left that comment.
-
@rovingdesertfox There's nothing wrong with being a pop opera singer. It's just a different genre than opera. The two genres should be kept separate. There's no need to be nasty and crude because someone disagrees with you. There is room for all opinions on YT. Incidentally, opera singers usually disgrace themselves when they attempt to sing pop, Broadway, etc. Their big operatic voices are not suitable for crossing over into other genres. An exception is Thomas Quasthoff, who can sing anything.

@arpeggio1358 you're a dick

@jaketaz and arpeggio1358, you clearly have no idea what your talking about, did you not hear the High C, during this stunning performance or are you that ignorant to true talent you have not got a clue what a high C is? just because Andrea chooses to vary his music does not make him a bad Opera singer, he is a natural operatic talent.

As perfectly sung as I think it can be!
