@rosiescott88 Plastic surgery is the modernized 'magically turned young and beautiful' that was in the tale at the end.

Well, the clerk Jerome does hit her at the end of the prologue and makes her "somedeel deef" and she does regret her youth. I quite like the way they have the tale in the series they're doing, but it is obviously a pretty loose update. As others have said, Julie is amazing. Check out the poem the wife of bath in brixton market on here for a Jamaican update by Jean Binta Breeze which is closer to the original.
