    I don't think he's arguing that you should ignore the things that make you sad. He is saying you should be strategic about creating experiences that DON'T make you sad by understanding yourself, your world, and how they interact. I don't think he would advocate for sweeping everything under the rug, but rather for collecting less dust in the first place. He is arguing that we can think our way out of many forms of unhappiness through our own agency, rather than resigning ourselves to them.

    So I guess you don't need the beard to be classified as a philosopher :)
