This is a simple and reliable lift system I've developed in the past to help keep my campers rolling and my family camping until suitable lift parts could be found or afforded. The stainless lift hardware is installed in the natural lift point areas of the camper and do not interfere with a later installed Apache lift system (which is still available from Apache sales corp.).
This system has worked great on my Mesa's and It was originally developed for my Royal which still had the chains intact. Although in hindsight a 4 post system would have been best for that application or for the even larger Ramada.
Note to the irritated Apache purists: -Love you guys, but the economy stinks right now and newer, aluminum geared lift systems sometimes need to be put on hold.
Why not take the family camping in the meanwhile, and at the same time keep a few of these campers from becoming utility trailer fodder?

  • For more info on my lift system, just click on the name of my channel "arndog55" to get to my channel with more in depth videos about the system. The construction and operation of this system could cause personal injury should a component fail.

  • I have used this exterior lift system on a 72 Mesa, a 75 Mesa, and my 79 Royal which last year was upgraded with the newer style aluminum gearboxes and newer lift chains. I am placing the exterior lift system parts list video as well as the video with the detailed look at the system on my channel's favorites list for easy accessibility. The 4 post system is just the 4 posts and cranks without the horizontal bar.

  • my forward gear box has blown out, is could you email me a parts list? it would be very much appreciated

  • @jakejerrywayne

Hi, love to help. I'll get a parts list together within the next few days. You'll also need an angle grinder and a pop rivet gun that handles 3/8" rivets.

  • that is a bummer. my lift was still working OK. I am going to rebuild it just to make sure that it works for a long tome more. do you have plans to reconstruct the lift or just go with the exterior lift like you have?

  • @kary1982v6 This camper is up for sale and it's being sold with the external lift.

The Royal that the lift system was originally used on now has the updated gear boxes and works great.

  • Decent idea, I was thinking of doing something similar. I hate the internal lift systems.. We had one break on a brand new camper while we were in Colorado.

  • looks pretty rigged up to me. I would just repair it correctly.

  • Hot looking guy

  • ok, so noone is asking how you keep the roof from falling down after the lift sytem is removed. No way the plastic walls can hold that heavy roof without eventually causing serious damage. PLease advise, as I have already built the external lift sytem. Thank you!

  • please help me do the same thing for my little pop up camper and let me know how you did this or if you can do it for a price I would love to be able to use mine again. I am 61 and cannot afford to fix it at the awful prices they want to do that. Please email me at Backyelaine08@yahoo.com

  • Great ideal its gotta b cheaper than repairing the chains an gear boxes like we did

But when u raise urs the sides go up at the same time mine doesn't it it missing something that lifts the sides with the top ???

  • Very useful

  • Is there a way you can send a List of the supplies needed of the 4 Post Lift System. Just bought a 1974 Royal and the gearbox is shot. So I love your Idea:) thaks and have a great day
