I believe they still issue you an M-14 when you join the military.

in the eighties we did in the navy. In the ninites Marines we did not. In the last decades army we used an M-4

@Supkem The m14 is used for training and tradition they stopped usage of it when the m16 was implemented for combat. in 69 i believe.

@01bbs2k that's funny cuz i still remember sitting in the lookout atop the sail of my submarine (Uss Will Rogers SSBN 659) holding an M-14. this was late eighties. Now granted this was a submarine and there isn't much call for weapons other than a torpedo but still that's what we were using. SInce then, i have never seen a m-14. In the Marines we had M-16, and now in the army we have M-44's.
