Your very brave about this. I had a hoarding Mom too? I promised myself I would never turn out like her.(My Mom) I hope your Mom gets better. May be she can collect for goodwill or a thrift store in her area. Or even a church. For the needy. Good luck ok.

you are a good son to help your mom -- hopefully she will recognize her problem. I help people who hoard. they need to recognize their hoarding comes from some unresolved painful past (as in your mom's it's a connection with her dad, who did collecting) she didn't get it that everything has it's place. you can't just set it down and leave it there.

If a thing is bought (like mom got the table with the missing leg) she can either sell it today or give it away. Glad she's working on it:)

you have your own attachments to your own things and you are able to USE THINGS which your mother trash pics, (calling yourself and "enabler") but its "other peoples trash" bla bla bla

heres the thing she goes overboard but saves things for a few purposes:

recycling, helping others (incl. her own family)

& plain & simple economics

sheesh, why not have a garage sale & let her make$
