after two days the chickens had eaten the grass down so it was time to hook up the farmall H and move them to a fresh spot.

  • Hey. NICE setup. How did you build the run? PVC? Do you have plans for this thing???

  • Yeah, the run is 1/2" pvc arches with 2" x 60" chicken wire over it. Welded wire on the ends and along the bottom for stiffening and predator protection. I don't have any plans. It was a make it up as you go project, but if you give me your e-mail I would be happy to send you my construction pics.

  • Great set up! But it seems you must pull the coop straight forward or it would damage the cage/wooden coop connection. In fact, it seems the only direction you can go is straight forward. How do you manage to turn it around? Do you first seperate the wooden structure from the cage, or, is the cage on some type of roller system?

  • Straight ahead is the only direction I can go when the two pieces are coupled together. I have it set up in a long field, it takes two weeks to get from one end to the other, 25 feet at a time. Once I get to the end, I unhook the "yard" from the rear hitch on the wagon frame and take both pieces seperately back to the other end of the field. Then I reposition them for another "swath" down through the field. The yard skids along on a wooden frame.

  • awesome coop dude, wish i had one like that!

  • You should build one. I used a flat hay wagon and framed a building on the bed. It was a fun project. The kids loved it.

  • Why don't they just put the chickens in the red house so they don't have to be dragged while the coop is moving? Geez, what happened to ordinary common sense?
